Westerner Park Exhibition Grounds Master Plan, City of Red Deer, Alberta (2008-2009)

MVH oversaw a consulting group of experts to develop a 20-to-30-year Master Plan for this extensive facility in south Red Deer, similar in some respects to the Calgary Stampede grounds just south in Calgary. Westerner Park has a solid tradition as the major events centre in the City of Red Deer. The facilities included a large exhibition space, hockey arena for the Red Deer Rebels, agriculture and rodeo grounds, a major park area, all encircled by parking courts. MVH worked closely with management to develop a concise phased strategy that could be staged over time improving circulation, expanding facilities, and creating a major park area. The Master Plan was enthusiastically and unanimously approved by the Westerner Park Board of Directors shortly after completion.
