Legacy Farm Area Structure Plan, Town of Strathmore, Alberta (2021-2022)

The Legacy Farm project is a unique proposed agricultural focused mixed-use project on approximately 45-hectares (120 acres) on the southern edge of the Town of Strathmore (40 kilometers east of Calgary on the Trans-Canada Highway). MVH directed the consulting team to develop the richly illustrated Area Structure Plan for the area. Legacy Farm will be a destination that focuses on food and agriculture, building on its rich national history of the early 20th Century as a centre for agricultural innovation. Working with a local support group of nearly 20 residents, business interests, and provincial interests, MVH developed a plan that includes a farmers’ market and agriculture discovery area, RV resort with a variety of over-night accommodations, institutional agriculture research facilities, commercial agricultural businesses, and light industrial sites.
